| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, Bobby and Betty Chastain of Waco |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 4, 2008; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Chastain were united in matrimony in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in 1948; through the years, they have |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even richer with |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the addition of a daughter, Teresa, and her husband, Evan, a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | grandson, Josh, and a great-granddaughter, Lauren; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, Mr. Chastain is a survivor |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of the U.S.S. Johnston (DD-557), a destroyer that was sunk during |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the Battle of Leyte Gulf; this courageous Texan went on to serve |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | this nation in the Korean War as well; after leaving the service, he |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | graduated from Baylor University and worked with Hercules before |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | his retirement; Mrs. Chastain has been a volunteer with the fine |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | arts division of the Heart O' Texas Fair and Rodeo for the past 40 |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | years; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past six |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | decades, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bobby and Betty Chastain on their |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |

| 29 | 29 | | continued happiness; and, be it further |
