| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, Wade and Martha Colbert of Waco are |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary on May 27, 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Colbert were united in matrimony at the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | bride's parents' home in Waco on that special day in 1950; through |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | made even richer with the addition of three children and their |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | spouses, Liz Sanders and her husband, Bill, Ron Colbert and his |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | wife, Jane, and Martha Sue Colbert-Hall and her husband, Arthur, as |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | well as three grandchildren, Barbara, Lacy, and Jennifer, and four |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | great-grandchildren, Krista, Kaleb, Bradley, and Bayleigh; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A Baylor graduate, Mr. Colbert answered his nation's |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | call to duty by serving in the Philippines with the U.S. Division of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Occupational Forces during World War II and retired from work |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | within the United States government in 1979; Mrs. Colbert devoted |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | her attentions to raising her family while her children were young |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and then worked as assistant to the chaplain at Hillcrest Hospital |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and retired from Connally-Compton Funeral Home in 2006; the couple |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | are longtime active members at Seventh & James Baptist Church in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Waco; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past six |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | decades, this devoted husband and wife have remained constant in |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | their commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Wade and Martha Colbert on the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | occasion of their 59th wedding anniversary and extend to them |

| 33 | 33 | | sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
