| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | by a great and enduring love, Henry and Diane Walbesser celebrated |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | their 50th wedding anniversary on August 16, 2008; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. and Mrs. Walbesser were united in matrimony in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Tonawanda, New York, on that special day in 1958; through the years, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | they have nurtured a fulfilling marriage that has been made even |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | richer with the addition of their three children, James, Kathleen |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and her husband, Steve Watkins, and Henry and his wife, Mindy, and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | their six grandchildren, Lily, Max, Heidi, Kyle, Austin, and Sarah; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Walbesser began his career at The University of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Texas at Austin; after moving to Maryland, he taught at the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | University of Maryland and served as director of research for the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | American Association for the Advancement of Science in Washington, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | D.C.; Mrs. Walbesser taught mathematics in Maryland and New York |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and retired in 1990 from the University of Maryland; since |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | relocating to Texas, she served as president of Baylor Learning in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Retirement, while Dr. Walbesser distinguished himself as dean of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the graduate school at Baylor University; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | half-century, the Walbessers have remained constant in their |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | commitment to one another, and the strength of their love has |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | enabled them to meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and optimism; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Henry and Diane Walbesser on their |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |

| 32 | 32 | | continued happiness; and, be it further |
