 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Members of the AusTin Cans robotics team of Anderson
 High School in Austin exhibited their robots at the K12 Robotics
 Expo at the State Capitol on May 5, 2009; and
 WHEREAS, The K12 Robotics Expo at the State Capitol is part of
 the Capitol Boosting Engineering Science and Technology program;
 Capitol BEST is an annual robotics competition in Travis and
 surrounding counties; teams of high school students are given six
 weeks to create a remote-controlled machine from a box of raw
 materials, and winners advance to the Texas BEST contest at Texas
 A&M University; and
 WHEREAS, The AusTin Cans are a team of talented and energetic
 Anderson High School students who have been working together to
 design and create robots for competition since 2006; and
 WHEREAS, The Anderson robotics team has participated in the
 Capitol BEST Competition since 2006, and in 2007 they won several
 awards, including second place overall, the High Score Award, the
 third place BEST Award, and the Sportsmanship Award; that same
 year, they also won the Rookie All-Star Award at the 2007 Lone Star
 Regional FIRST Competition; and
 WHEREAS, In 2008, three Anderson robotics teams advanced to
 the semifinals of the Vex Robotics Competition, two of the teams
 advanced to the finals, and one of the teams advanced to the
 national competition; and
 WHEREAS, The group's visit to the State Capitol provided an
 excellent opportunity to showcase the innovative work of these
 outstanding students and for all to admire the ingenuity of their
 creations; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the Anderson High School AusTin Cans
 robotics team and extend to its members and sponsors sincere best
 wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the AusTin Cans as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
