| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jimmy Goolsbee of Arlington was honored by the |

| 6 | 6 | | Cherokee County Soil and Water Conservation District on April 24, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 2009, for his outstanding accomplishment in sustainable forestry |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | through the conservation of soil, water, plants, and related |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | resources; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Goolsbee inherited more than 100 acres of prime |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | timberland, located just outside of Rusk, that his |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | great-grandfather once leased to sharecroppers in the early 20th |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | century; Mr. Goolsbee became involved in oversight of the land |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | following the death of his father and has since focused much of his |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | efforts on reclamation; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Forest Association, Mr. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Goolsbee has used money from sales to clean and replant the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | property, and he has worked to establish stream management zones |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | around Bean's Creek, which runs through a large part of his acreage; |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Jimmy Goolsbee's dedication to the health of his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | family's land is commendable, and it is indeed fitting to honor him |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | for his contributions to the rich agricultural tradition of East |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Jimmy Goolsbee on his receipt of a |

| 27 | 27 | | Cherokee County Soil and Water Conservation District award and |

| 28 | 28 | | extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
