44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Jimmy Goolsbee of Arlington was honored by the
66 Cherokee County Soil and Water Conservation District on April 24,
77 2009, for his outstanding accomplishment in sustainable forestry
88 through the conservation of soil, water, plants, and related
99 resources; and
1010 WHEREAS, Mr. Goolsbee inherited more than 100 acres of prime
1111 timberland, located just outside of Rusk, that his
1212 great-grandfather once leased to sharecroppers in the early 20th
1313 century; Mr. Goolsbee became involved in oversight of the land
1414 following the death of his father and has since focused much of his
1515 efforts on reclamation; and
1616 WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Forest Association, Mr.
1717 Goolsbee has used money from sales to clean and replant the
1818 property, and he has worked to establish stream management zones
1919 around Bean's Creek, which runs through a large part of his acreage;
2020 and
2121 WHEREAS, Jimmy Goolsbee's dedication to the health of his
2222 family's land is commendable, and it is indeed fitting to honor him
2323 for his contributions to the rich agricultural tradition of East
2424 Texas; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2626 Legislature hereby congratulate Jimmy Goolsbee on his receipt of a
2727 Cherokee County Soil and Water Conservation District award and
2828 extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
2929 further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for Mr. Goolsbee as an expression of high regard by the
3232 Texas House of Representatives.
