| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA) was |

| 6 | 6 | | established in November 2001 by a group of Muslim civil rights |

| 7 | 7 | | activists concerned with the growing trend of racial and religious |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | profiling against Muslims; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The MLFA is a nonprofit, charitable organization |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | committed to preserving, safeguarding, and promoting the civil and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | legal rights of Islamic institutions and Muslim individuals in the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | United States of America; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, As part of its mission to help protect the civil and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | legal rights of Muslims in America, the MLFA regularly conducts |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | workshops and seminars to teach the Muslim community about its |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | rights; now, therefore, be it |

| 17 | 17 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 18 | 18 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Muslim Legal Fund of America |

| 19 | 19 | | for its dedicated defense of the Constitution of the United States; |
