55 WHEREAS, The National Foundation for Women Legislators
66 rendered invaluable aid to countless individuals in the aftermath
77 of Hurricane Ike; and
88 WHEREAS, After this catastrophic event left more than two
99 million people without power, the National Foundation for Women
1010 Legislators responded quickly in order to ensure that the residents
1111 of Northwest Houston were able to have their vital need for food and
1212 water met; and
1313 WHEREAS, Led by president and CEO Robin Read, the group
1414 coordinated its efforts with Office Depot and Nourish America and
1515 helped establish distribution centers, where they provided
1616 nutritional food and beverages and hygiene items to thousands of
1717 hurricane survivors and emergency workers; and
1818 WHEREAS, Times of great crisis often inspire noble actions,
1919 and Hurricane Ike proved to be no exception, as evidenced by the
2020 generous support offered by the National Foundation for Women
2121 Legislators; now, therefore, be it
2222 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2323 Legislature hereby honor the National Foundation for Women
2424 Legislators for the important role it played in the Hurricane Ike
2525 relief and recovery effort and extend to all those associated with
2626 the organization sincere gratitude for their hard work and
2727 dedication; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for the National Foundation for Women Legislators as an
3030 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
