5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Nourish America rendered invaluable aid to |

6 | 6 | | countless individuals in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike; and |

7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, After this catastrophic event left more than two |
---|
8 | 8 | | million people without power, Nourish America responded quickly in |
---|
9 | 9 | | order to ensure that the residents of Northwest Houston were able to |
---|
10 | 10 | | have their vital need for nutrition and water met; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Led by executive director Michael Morton, the group |
---|
12 | 12 | | secured truckloads of supplies from its donors, and it collaborated |
---|
13 | 13 | | with Office Depot and the National Foundation for Women Legislators |
---|
14 | 14 | | to establish distribution centers, where they provided nutritional |
---|
15 | 15 | | products and hygiene items to thousands of hurricane survivors and |
---|
16 | 16 | | emergency workers; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Times of great crisis often inspire noble actions, |
---|
18 | 18 | | and Hurricane Ike proved to be no exception, as evidenced by the |
---|
19 | 19 | | generous support offered by Nourish America; now, therefore, be it |
---|
20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
21 | 21 | | Legislature hereby honor Nourish America for the important role it |
---|
22 | 22 | | played in the Hurricane Ike relief and recovery effort and extend to |
---|
23 | 23 | | all those associated with the organization sincere gratitude for |
---|
24 | 24 | | their hard work and dedication; and, be it further |
---|
25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

26 | 26 | | prepared for Nourish America as an expression of high regard by the |

27 | 27 | | Texas House of Representatives. |
