5	5	WHEREAS, The family and friends of Karon Diane Risher of
6	6	Kerrville suffered a great loss with her passing on August 18, 2007,
7	7	at the age of 61; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Born to Lillian and Clarence Dworak in Houston on
9	9	November 12, 1945, the former Karon Dworak earned degrees in art and
10	10	English from Sam Houston State University, where she met her
11	11	husband, John I. Risher, Jr.; they were married in 1968 and became
12	12	the parents of four treasured daughters, Caroline, Gina, Wendy, and
13	13	Rebecca; and
14	14	WHEREAS, Mrs. Risher earned her teaching certificate from
15	15	McMurry University and was devoted to her profession; she became a
16	16	valued member of the faculty at Peterson Middle School; in
17	17	addition, she was active in the Eta Xi chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma
18	18	Society International, an educator's association; and
19	19	WHEREAS, A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Risher
20	20	enjoyed spending time with her family, especially kayaking together
21	21	on the Llano River; she was also an avid reader who loved to learn,
22	22	and she was fond of gardening and bird-watching; she was a
23	23	parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church; and
24	24	WHEREAS, Although Karon Risher is deeply missed by all who
25	25	were privileged to share in her life, her friends and family may
26	26	take comfort in recalling the many happy times spent in her company;
27	27	now, therefore, be it
28	28	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
29	29	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Karon Diane Risher
30	30	and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her
31	31	husband, John I. Risher, Jr.; to her daughters, Caroline, Gina,
32	32	Wendy, and Rebecca Risher; to her grandson, Nicholas V. Baca; to her
33	33	mother, Lillian Dworak; to her sister, Vicki L. Hensley; and to her
34	34	other relatives and friends; and, be it further
35	35	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
36	36	prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas House
37	37	of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Karon
38	38	Diane Dworak Risher.
