| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Fidel and Manuela Nuez of Houston celebrated their |

| 6 | 6 | | 58th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2009, and they may indeed |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | reflect with joy on the rewarding relationship they have shared; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Nuez met in 1949 at a festival in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Tahoka, when Mr. Nuez asked his future wife to dance; after a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | two-year courtship, they exchanged their wedding vows on that |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | special day in 1951, at a ceremony held in Edinburg; they moved to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Houston that same year and built a home where they continue to live |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | today; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. and Mrs. Nuez have shared a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | fulfilling marriage; they are the parents of 7 beloved children, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Francisco, Arcilia, Joe, Ruben, Delores, Yolanda, and the late |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Robert Nuez, and have delighted in the addition of 12 |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren to their family; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Nuez drove a bus for the Houston Independent |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | School District and was a beautician; Mr. Nuez was a U.S. Navy Seal |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | during World War II and retired after three decades of employment |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | with the City of Houston; the couple volunteer with their church and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | community and take pleasure in camping, taking walks in the park, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and traveling; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The 58 years of marriage that Mr. and Mrs. Nuez have |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all who |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | know them; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Fidel and Manuela Nuez on their |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | 58th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |

| 33 | 33 | | continued happiness; and, be it further |
