| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Citizens of Carrollton have greatly benefited from |

| 6 | 6 | | the dedicated leadership of Herb Weidinger, who will complete his |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | term on the city council in May 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, During his tenure in municipal government, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Councilman Weidinger has ably guided the city with an eye to the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | future, and his expertise in a range of community issues has earned |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | him widespread respect; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A resident of Carrollton for 12 years, Councilman |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Weidinger graduated from Loras College and went on to earn a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | master's degree in international management from The University of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Texas at Dallas and a master's degree in liberal arts from Southern |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Methodist University; currently retired, he has shared his time |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | with a number of local groups, having served as president of the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Carrollton Host Lions Club, president and vice president of the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Metrocrest Republican Club, member of the Dallas County Historical |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Commission, and chair of the Farmers Branch Library Board; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Councilman Weidinger has further given back to his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | community through his contributions on the Audit and Finance |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Committee, National League of Cities Steering Committee on Energy, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Environment, and Natural Resources, and various other |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | environmental committees; he also is a liaison to Senior Adult |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Services; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Each day, public servants improve the quality of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | life for their fellow citizens in innumerable ways, and the efforts |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | of Herb Weidinger have helped to make Carrollton a better place in |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | which to live and work; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby honor Herb Weidinger for his committed public |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | service and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
