H.R. No. 1931 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Farmer and rancher Doyle Buckley was recognized for his outstanding achievements in conservation by the Cherokee County Soil and Water Conservation District at its 53rd annual awards banquet in Jacksonville on April 24, 2009; and WHEREAS, In 1983, Mr. Buckley retired after 29 years as a furniture maker and turned to farming and ranching; on his 200-acre spread in northern Cherokee County, he maintains a small herd of Braford "tiger-stripe" cows; and WHEREAS, Mr. Buckley also leases 30 acres where he raises tomatoes, peppers, and Noonday onions, which he sells through local businesses and the farmers market in Tyler; he is a member of the Noonday Onion Growers Association; and WHEREAS, The family farmers and ranchers of Texas play a vital role in the conservation of the natural resources of the Lone Star State, and Doyle Buckley may take great pride in this prestigious award; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Doyle Buckley on his award from the Cherokee County Soil and Water Conservation District and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Buckley as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
