44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Farmer and rancher Doyle Buckley was recognized for
66 his outstanding achievements in conservation by the Cherokee County
77 Soil and Water Conservation District at its 53rd annual awards
88 banquet in Jacksonville on April 24, 2009; and
99 WHEREAS, In 1983, Mr. Buckley retired after 29 years as a
1010 furniture maker and turned to farming and ranching; on his 200-acre
1111 spread in northern Cherokee County, he maintains a small herd of
1212 Braford "tiger-stripe" cows; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Buckley also leases 30 acres where he raises
1414 tomatoes, peppers, and Noonday onions, which he sells through local
1515 businesses and the farmers market in Tyler; he is a member of the
1616 Noonday Onion Growers Association; and
1717 WHEREAS, The family farmers and ranchers of Texas play a
1818 vital role in the conservation of the natural resources of the Lone
1919 Star State, and Doyle Buckley may take great pride in this
2020 prestigious award; now, therefore, be it
2121 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2222 Legislature hereby congratulate Doyle Buckley on his award from the
2323 Cherokee County Soil and Water Conservation District and extend to
2424 him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and,
2525 be it further
2626 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2727 prepared for Mr. Buckley as an expression of high regard by the
2828 Texas House of Representatives.
