5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to |

6 | 6 | | recognize Ted Collins, Jr., who is the recipient of the 2008 Top |
---|
7 | 7 | | Hand Award from the Permian Basin Petroleum Association; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Ted Collins began his career in the Permian Basin as |
---|
9 | 9 | | a petroleum engineer with Pan American Petroleum Corporation in |
---|
10 | 10 | | Andrews in 1960; although his remarkable career has taken him all |
---|
11 | 11 | | across North America, he has called Midland his home since he opened |
---|
12 | 12 | | his first office there more than four decades ago, and he still |
---|
13 | 13 | | touts the advantages of participating in the oil and gas industry in |
---|
14 | 14 | | the Permian Basin; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ted's father, C. O. Ted Collins, was one of Fort |
---|
16 | 16 | | Worth's pioneer oilmen, and following in his footsteps, Ted has |
---|
17 | 17 | | carved out an exceptionally successful oil and gas career; for his |
---|
18 | 18 | | many contributions to the industry and for his dedication to the |
---|
19 | 19 | | American Association of Professional Landmen and the Permian Basin |
---|
20 | 20 | | Landmen's Association, he was honored with a lifetime achievement |
---|
21 | 21 | | award in 2006; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, One of the founders of Fort Worth's American Quasar |
---|
23 | 23 | | Petroleum Company, he also served as president of Houston Natural |
---|
24 | 24 | | Gas, which became Enron, during the 1980s; he was president of |
---|
25 | 25 | | Collins and Ware, Incorporated, from 1988 to 2000; he then served as |
---|
26 | 26 | | president of Collins and Ware Investments Company, and he is |
---|
27 | 27 | | currently active in the Permian Basin as chairman and chief |
---|
28 | 28 | | executive officer of Patriot Resources Partners, LLC; Mr. Collins |
---|
29 | 29 | | is also active in the Barnett Shale gas play in North Texas and the |
---|
30 | 30 | | Bakken Shale oil play in North Dakota; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his significant contributions to the |
---|
32 | 32 | | oil and gas industry, Ted Collins has served on The University of |
---|
33 | 33 | | Texas Development Board and in a number of civic capacities in the |
---|
34 | 34 | | Midland community, and he is highly respected for his leadership |
---|
35 | 35 | | and exceptional accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |
---|
36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
---|
37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby commend Ted Collins, Jr., on the prominent role |
---|
38 | 38 | | he has played in the oil and gas industry and extend to him |
---|
39 | 39 | | congratulations on earning the Permian Basin Petroleum |
---|
40 | 40 | | Association's 2008 Top Hand Award; and, be it further |

41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
