| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Zayas was recognized for his outstanding |

| 6 | 6 | | academic achievements at the Awards of Excellence Dinner hosted by |

| 7 | 7 | | the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Education Foundation on March 12, 2009; |

| 8 | 8 | | and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This annual event pays tribute to exemplary high |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | school seniors in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | District and reflects the strong support that the community |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | provides to public education; local business and civic leaders |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | sponsor each of the honorees, and each student, in turn, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | acknowledges a faculty mentor who has been instrumental in the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | student's endeavors; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A member of the Class of 2009 at L. D. Bell High |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | School, Edward Zayas received an Award of Excellence that |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | acknowledged his work in journalism, and he was presented with a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | medal that will serve as an enduring symbol of his accomplishments; |

|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, By demonstrating admirable determination and by |

| 22 | 22 | | taking full advantage of the caring support provided by his |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | school's educators, Edward Zayas has built a strong foundation for |

| 24 | 24 | | future success, and he may take justifiable pride in a job well done |

| 25 | 25 | | as he looks forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie |

| 26 | 26 | | ahead; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Edward Zayas on his receipt of a |
