44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Oscar Padilla of El Paso was selected to participate
66 in the 2009 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and
77 during the 81st Legislative Session, he has ably served his fellow
88 Texans as an aide in the office of State Representative Pete
99 Gallego; and
1010 WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative
1111 Leadership Foundation, the program offers outstanding
1212 undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to serve as
1313 full-time policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican
1414 American Legislative Caucus and gain experience working with the
1515 Texas Legislature; and
1616 WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Mr.
1717 Padilla has also worked as an intern for the El Paso Public Service
1818 Board; in that position, he assisted the chief water and wastewater
1919 economic analyst in the creation of a 20-year water consumption
2020 forecast that will aid in the preservation of area water resources;
2121 in the summer of 2007, he participated in the Public Policy and
2222 International Affairs Fellowship Program at the Woodrow Wilson
2323 School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University;
2424 and
2525 WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol,
2626 Mr. Padilla has been of great assistance to Representative
2727 Gallego's office, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing
2828 citizens of the Lone Star State; he has performed his duties as a
2929 legislative aide with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and he
3030 may indeed look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it
3131 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
3232 Legislature hereby honor Oscar Padilla as a participant in the 2009
3333 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend him for
3434 his notable contributions to the legislative process; and, be it
3535 further
3636 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3737 prepared for Mr. Padilla as an expression of high regard by the
3838 Texas House of Representatives.
