 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Matt Shepperd of The Woodlands is helping to make a
 positive difference in the world through his work with I Am Change;
 and
 WHEREAS, Recognizing that responsibility should come with
 privilege, Mr. Shepperd founded this notable initiative in an
 effort to encourage people to take action for the common good; I Am
 Change stresses the potential that one person has to make a profound
 difference in the lives of others; and
 WHEREAS, The first project of I Am Change is Hydrate Hope,
 which works to create low-cost, sustainable access to clean water
 and sanitation; currently, the program benefits thousands of people
 every month by partnering with local implementers; during its first
 year alone, the effort has provided clean water to more than 30,000
 people in Sierra Leone, India, Cameroon, Zambia, and Tanzania; and
 WHEREAS, I Am Change is also developing projects to address
 other critical social concerns, including hunger, education, human
 trafficking, orphan care, health care, and financial advancement by
 means of microenterprise development; within the structure of the
 organization, Mr. Shepperd is working to forge partnerships with
 schools in Southern India, anti-trafficking groups in India and
 Thailand, and inner-city projects here in the United States; and
 WHEREAS, Endeavoring to confront the suffering that afflicts
 so many people both in the United States and around the world, I Am
 Change is providing education, organization, and a venue for
 individuals to transform the future and to effect real change for
 the benefit of those in need; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby commend Matt Shepperd for helping to improve the
 lives of others through his work with I Am Change and extend to him
 sincere best wishes for continued success with his important
 efforts; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Shepperd as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
