| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Matt Shepperd of The Woodlands is helping to make a |

| 6 | 6 | | positive difference in the world through his work with I Am Change; |
|---|

|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Recognizing that responsibility should come with |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | privilege, Mr. Shepperd founded this notable initiative in an |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | effort to encourage people to take action for the common good; I Am |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Change stresses the potential that one person has to make a profound |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | difference in the lives of others; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The first project of I Am Change is Hydrate Hope, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | which works to create low-cost, sustainable access to clean water |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and sanitation; currently, the program benefits thousands of people |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | every month by partnering with local implementers; during its first |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | year alone, the effort has provided clean water to more than 30,000 |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | people in Sierra Leone, India, Cameroon, Zambia, and Tanzania; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, I Am Change is also developing projects to address |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | other critical social concerns, including hunger, education, human |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | trafficking, orphan care, health care, and financial advancement by |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | means of microenterprise development; within the structure of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | organization, Mr. Shepperd is working to forge partnerships with |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | schools in Southern India, anti-trafficking groups in India and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Thailand, and inner-city projects here in the United States; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Endeavoring to confront the suffering that afflicts |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | so many people both in the United States and around the world, I Am |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Change is providing education, organization, and a venue for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | individuals to transform the future and to effect real change for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the benefit of those in need; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby commend Matt Shepperd for helping to improve the |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | lives of others through his work with I Am Change and extend to him |

| 34 | 34 | | sincere best wishes for continued success with his important |
