| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The year 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of |

| 6 | 6 | | Northwest Montessori House of Children in Austin; and |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1984 by Shireen de Silva, Northwest |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Montessori House of Children "is dedicated to creating an enriching |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and challenging educational environment where each child is |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | encouraged to reach his or her fullest potential academically, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | emotionally, and socially"; through the years, the school has |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | served more than 1,000 students and expanded its campus to include |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | three buildings; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. de Silva, who has extensive Association |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Montessori Internationale training, leads a team of over 20 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | teachers, including Misbah Ali, the director; moreover, Mrs. de |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Silva's husband, Kenneth de Silva, has been involved with the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | institution since its inception and currently serves as its |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | financial and human resources director; Mrs. de Silva was honored |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | in 2005 with a special award for her significant contributions as a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | small business owner; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, For a quarter of a century, Northwest Montessori |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | House of Children has made a positive difference in the lives of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Austin children and their parents, and it is indeed fitting to honor |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the school during this milestone year; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of Northwest |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Montessori House of Children in Austin and extend to all those |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | associated with the institution sincere best wishes for continued |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | success; and, be it further |
