R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dr. David Simmons has distinguished himself through
his able service as superintendent of the Richardson Independent
School District; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Simmons received his education from Stephen F.
Austin State University, earning his bachelor's degree in 1982 and
his master's degree in education in 1987; continuing his studies,
he earned a doctor of philosophy in education administration from
Texas A&M University in 2001; and
WHEREAS, Beginning his career as a teacher in Deer Park, Dr.
Simmons went on to serve students as curriculum director,
counselor, and principal; he gained further experience as assistant
superintendent of Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD and as superintendent
of the Wimberley, Presidio, Texas City, and Tyler ISDs; and
WHEREAS, David Simmons has contributed greatly to the
development of Richardson ISD, and his dedication to the district's
students, teachers, and staff truly merits special recognition;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby commend Dr. David Simmons on his outstanding
leadership of the Richardson Independent School District and extend
to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Simmons as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
