| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dr. David Simmons has distinguished himself through |

| 6 | 6 | | his able service as superintendent of the Richardson Independent |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | School District; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Simmons received his education from Stephen F. |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Austin State University, earning his bachelor's degree in 1982 and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | his master's degree in education in 1987; continuing his studies, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | he earned a doctor of philosophy in education administration from |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Texas A&M University in 2001; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Beginning his career as a teacher in Deer Park, Dr. |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Simmons went on to serve students as curriculum director, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | counselor, and principal; he gained further experience as assistant |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | superintendent of Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD and as superintendent |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of the Wimberley, Presidio, Texas City, and Tyler ISDs; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, David Simmons has contributed greatly to the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | development of Richardson ISD, and his dedication to the district's |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | students, teachers, and staff truly merits special recognition; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby commend Dr. David Simmons on his outstanding |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | leadership of the Richardson Independent School District and extend |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
