H.R. No. 2020
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Amber Michelle Randall was honored for her
achievements at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on
April 18, 2009; and
WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have
distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic
involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith
Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist
Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at
the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund;
and
WHEREAS, Amber Randall is the daughter of Kenneth and
Patricia Randall and an eighth-grade student at Lamar Fleming
Middle School; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Randall is on the honor roll, the student
council, and the youth council, and she is a member of the Honor
Society and the Girl Scouts; a multitalented student, she has
received an award for her abilities in math and science and won
first place in a University Interscholastic League music
competition; and
WHEREAS, An active member of Gethsemane Baptist Church,
Ms. Randall is the youth news editor for the congregation
newsletter and participates in numerous church programs; and
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her
community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and
teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism
toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Amber Michelle Randall on being
named a 2009 honoree at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship
Luncheon and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
success in all of her endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Randall as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
