 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Students, alumni, and faculty are celebrating the
 40th anniversary of the establishment of The University of Texas at
 San Antonio; and
 WHEREAS, Created by the Texas Legislature in 1969, UTSA
 enrolled 670 graduate students in its first class in 1973, and since
 that time it has become one of the fastest-growing public
 universities in Texas; more than 28,000 students are currently
 pursuing degrees at UTSA, and some 72,000 alumni contribute to
 communities around the world; additionally, it is responsible for
 an annual economic impact of $1.2 billion; and
 WHEREAS, UTSA provides its undergraduate and graduate
 students with access to research and educational opportunities that
 help to prepare them to take a leadership role in their fields, and
 this tradition of educational excellence could not have been
 achieved without the support of many public and private sector
 partners; and
 WHEREAS, A proud component of The University of Texas System,
 UTSA is building a solid foundation for its graduates by helping to
 prepare them for success in the global economy, and its
 contributions as part of the public higher education system in
 Texas merit special recognition; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor The University of Texas at San Antonio on
 the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its establishment and
 extend to all those associated with this notable institution
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the university as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
