| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of |

| 6 | 6 | | Commerce works to promote economic opportunities for its members |

| 7 | 7 | | and to enhance prosperity in the communities it serves; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The chamber was founded in 1979 to support African |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | American-owned businesses as integral components of the Tarrant |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | County economic landscape, and three decades later, African |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | American entrepreneurs are making considerable contributions to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the growth and vitality of the area; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, PATHS Forward, an important project sponsored by the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | chamber, was established to provide young African American |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | professionals with opportunities to meet other successful business |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | people, corporate executives, and civic leaders and to learn more |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | about the Tarrant County community and area nonprofit |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | organizations; with a goal to prepare members to take a leadership |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | role in the community, the nine-month-long program helps |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | participants hone their communication and management skills and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | create strategies to achieve professional and personal success; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The chamber has also supported endeavors to provide |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | educational and practical opportunities to help youth gain the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | skills and experience necessary to become successful business |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | owners; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, The Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of |

| 27 | 27 | | Commerce is making a positive difference in the lives of countless |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | people in North Texas and beyond, and it merits special praise for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | its outstanding initiatives to promote a healthy business climate |

| 30 | 30 | | in the community; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby recognize members of the Fort Worth Metropolitan |

| 33 | 33 | | Black Chamber of Commerce for their contributions to the Tarrant |

| 34 | 34 | | County economy and commend PATHS Forward participants for their |
