H.R. No. 205
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Alexis Renae Garcia has been crowned Miss Edinburg
2009, and this outstanding achievement provides a fitting
opportunity to recognize this accomplished young woman; and
WHEREAS, In addition to winning the coveted first-place
prize, Alexis Garcia was also awarded the title of Miss Photogenic
at the pageant, which was held at The University of Texas--Pan
American campus on October 12, 2008; and
WHEREAS, A junior at Edinburg High School, Ms. Garcia is a
member of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica and an officer of the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and she plays an active role with
the marching band, mock trial club, and debate club; she honed her
leadership skills at the National Hispanic Institute and its
Lorenzo de Zavala Youth Legislative Session and has been invited to
join the Hidalgo County Cotillion Club; and
WHEREAS, Through her hard work and steadfast commitment to a
worthy goal, Alexis Garcia has earned the opportunity to represent
the Edinburg community, and it is a pleasure to recognize this
exemplary young Texan; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Alexis Renae Garcia on her
selection as Miss Edinburg 2009 and extend to her sincere best
wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
