R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, In 2009, Valero Energy Corporation was ranked No. 10
on the Fortune 500, the list of America's largest companies
published annually by Fortune magazine; and
WHEREAS, This San Antonio-based company is the biggest
refiner in North America, with 16 refineries located throughout the
United States, Canada, and the Caribbean, as well as nearly 6,000
retail and branded wholesale outlets; in 2008, Valero's revenues
exceeded $118 billion; and
WHEREAS, Skillfully led by CEO William R. Klesse, the
corporation provides jobs for approximately 22,000 employees, and
in 2007 it was recognized by Fortune as No. 1 on the magazine's list
of the "Best Big Companies to Work For"; and
WHEREAS, An independent business that employs Texans, Valero
is contributing to the overall economic prosperity of the Lone Star
State, and its officers and employees may indeed reflect with great
pride on their company's notable achievements; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Valero Energy Corporation on its
inclusion in the 2009 Fortune 500 list of America's largest
companies and extend to all those associated with the business
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Valero as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
