 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Lara Jackson of El Paso has been recognized for her
 success in collegiate athletics by being named the recipient of the
 2009 Ruby Award from the University of Arizona; and
 WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is given annually to the top
 female senior student-athlete at the university, and Ms. Jackson
 earned the commendation for her success on the Wildcats swim team;
 and
 WHEREAS, A graduate of Chapin High School in El Paso, Ms.
 Jackson began swimming for the University of Arizona in 2005;
 several noteworthy achievements have marked the athletic career of
 this dedicated competitor; she claimed the NCAA title in the
 50-meter freestyle in 2008 and 2009, helped her team become the 2008
 NCAA champs, and has won multiple all-American honors; and
 WHEREAS, In winning the Ruby Award, Lara Jackson has received
 a fitting tribute to her exceptional career in college swimming,
 and her accomplishments have furthered the Lone Star State's
 considerable reputation for producing outstanding athletes; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Lara Jackson on her receipt of the
 2009 Ruby Award from the University of Arizona and extend to her
 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Jackson as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
