| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Lara Jackson of El Paso has been recognized for her |

| 6 | 6 | | success in collegiate athletics by being named the recipient of the |

| 7 | 7 | | 2009 Ruby Award from the University of Arizona; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is given annually to the top |

| 9 | 9 | | female senior student-athlete at the university, and Ms. Jackson |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | earned the commendation for her success on the Wildcats swim team; |

|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Chapin High School in El Paso, Ms. |

| 13 | 13 | | Jackson began swimming for the University of Arizona in 2005; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | several noteworthy achievements have marked the athletic career of |

| 15 | 15 | | this dedicated competitor; she claimed the NCAA title in the |

| 16 | 16 | | 50-meter freestyle in 2008 and 2009, helped her team become the 2008 |

| 17 | 17 | | NCAA champs, and has won multiple all-American honors; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In winning the Ruby Award, Lara Jackson has received |

| 19 | 19 | | a fitting tribute to her exceptional career in college swimming, |

| 20 | 20 | | and her accomplishments have furthered the Lone Star State's |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | considerable reputation for producing outstanding athletes; now, |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Lara Jackson on her receipt of the |
