| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends of Raphael Wilbur Dutton, Jr., of |

| 6 | 6 | | Houston were deeply saddened by his passing on April 22, 2009, at |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | the age of 96; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on October 16, 1912, in Patterson, Louisiana, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Raphael Dutton was the son of Raphael Wilbur Dutton, Sr., and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Virginia Isabell Harris and the brother of Tillman, Harold, Marvin, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Constance, and Marjorie; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, He served his country with distinction as a member |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of the U.S. Army during World War II and, following his honorable |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | discharge, worked for many years for Texas Steel, until his |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | retirement; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Dutton and his beloved wife, Mattie, shared a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | fulfilling marriage that spanned more than 60 years, and the couple |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | were blessed with a son, Charles; through the years, Mr. Dutton also |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | experienced the joy of welcoming into their family three |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A loyal congregant of Olivet Missionary Baptist |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Church, Mr. Dutton inspired many with his deep commitment to his |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | faith; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Raphael Dutton lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and he will forever be remembered with deep affection by all who |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | were fortunate enough to share in his love and friendship; now, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | therefore, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Raphael Wilbur |

| 30 | 30 | | Dutton, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | family: to his son, Charles Dutton; to his daughter-in-law, Rhonda |

| 32 | 32 | | Dutton; to his grandchildren, De Julius, Raphael, and DeDria; to |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | his great-granddaughter, Kamron; to his sister, Marjorie Perry; to |

| 34 | 34 | | his sisters-in-law, Mildred Dutton, Amanda Dutton, and Helen |
