| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Richardson High School Law Magnet program is |

| 6 | 6 | | providing students with a strong foundation on which to build; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Utilizing an interdisciplinary curriculum based in |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | theoretical research and its application, field experiences, and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | technology skills, the RHS Law Magnet program offers a rigorous |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | course of study; students are not only equipped with legal |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | knowledge and skills, but also with an understanding of the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | fundamental principles and values that characterize the American |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | legal system; the school features an extensive law library, which |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | supports the research and writing component of the program; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Active learning opportunities include mock trials, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | field trips to law-related settings, and community service, and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | students can pursue pertinent internships; those selected to join |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | the mock trial team, known as the Legal Eagles, learn how to bring a |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | case to court and attend competitions throughout the state; law |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | magnet students can further benefit by participating in the Law |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Review, a social group that promotes school spirit, interest in the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | legal professions, and camaraderie; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, The continuing vitality of the legal profession in |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Texas depends in large part on the enthusiasm of young people for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the study of the law and the pursuit of justice, and the Richardson |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | High School Law Magnet program is helping to prepare young people |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | who are dedicated to participating in our constitutional democracy; |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby honor the Richardson High School Law Magnet |
