 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Brittany Taylor was honored for her achievements at
 the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on April 18, 2009;
 and
 WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have
 distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic
 involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith
 Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist
 Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at
 the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund;
 and
 WHEREAS, Brittany Taylor is the daughter of Regina Miller;
 she is an 11th-grade student at the High School for the Performing
 and Visual Arts and a member of Freewill Baptist Church; and
 WHEREAS, This talented singer and performer has played
 leading roles on stage and earned first place in solo ensemble, and
 she served as president of the girls' chorus in middle school; she
 is presently a member of the Leadership Office and Training Corps
 and is looking forward to attending college; and
 WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her
 community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and
 teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism
 toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Brittany Taylor on being named a
 2009 honoree at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon
 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all
 of her endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Taylor as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
