H.R. No. 2090
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Priscilla M. Dubose was honored for her achievements
at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on April 18,
2009; and
WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have
distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic
involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith
Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist
Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at
the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund;
and
WHEREAS, Priscilla Dubose is a student at Carver Magnet High
School in Houston, where she is a member of the honor roll and a
cocaptain of the Lady General cheerleading squad; active in her
community, she belongs to the youth chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho
Sorority and serves as a praise dancer and a member of the youth
choir at both Nazarene and New Pleasant Grove Baptist Churches; she
has been previously recognized for her community service as well as
her dramatic abilities; the daughter of Ms. S. A. Dubose, Priscilla
enjoys reading and performing in her free time and plans to work
toward a career as a news anchor or a high school English teacher;
and
WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her
community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and
teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism
toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Priscilla M. Dubose on being named
a 2009 honoree at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all
of her endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Dubose as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
