| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Priscilla M. Dubose was honored for her achievements |

| 6 | 6 | | at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on April 18, |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have |

| 9 | 9 | | distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Priscilla Dubose is a student at Carver Magnet High |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | School in Houston, where she is a member of the honor roll and a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | cocaptain of the Lady General cheerleading squad; active in her |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | community, she belongs to the youth chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Sorority and serves as a praise dancer and a member of the youth |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | choir at both Nazarene and New Pleasant Grove Baptist Churches; she |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | has been previously recognized for her community service as well as |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | her dramatic abilities; the daughter of Ms. S. A. Dubose, Priscilla |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | enjoys reading and performing in her free time and plans to work |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | toward a career as a news anchor or a high school English teacher; |

| 25 | 25 | | and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism |

| 29 | 29 | | toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now, |

| 30 | 30 | | therefore, be it |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Priscilla M. Dubose on being named |
