44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Brittney Roche' Garrett was honored for her
66 achievements at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on
77 April 18, 2009; and
88 WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have
99 distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic
1010 involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith
1111 Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist
1212 Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at
1313 the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund;
1414 and
1515 WHEREAS, A most deserving recipient of this honor, Ms.
1616 Garrett is the daughter of Robert and Renee Garrett; she is a senior
1717 at Barbara Jordan High School for Careers and a member of Bible Way
1818 Christian Church; after graduation, she plans to study business
1919 management at the University of Houston; and
2020 WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her
2121 community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and
2222 teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism
2323 toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now,
2424 therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2626 Legislature hereby congratulate Brittney Roche' Garrett on her
2727 receipt of a 2009 Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship and extend to
2828 her sincere best wishes for continued success in all of her
2929 endeavors; and, be it further
3030 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3131 prepared for Ms. Garrett as an expression of high regard by the
3232 Texas House of Representatives.
