 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The talented students of Cielo Vista Elementary
 School in El Paso placed second in their category at the state
 Destination ImagiNation competition in Houston on April 3 and 4,
 2009; and
 WHEREAS, Destination ImagiNation is an international program
 that promotes teamwork and creative problem solving among students
 across the nation and around the world; teams compete to find
 innovative solutions to a variety of educational challenges at
 regional, state, and national events; the annual Texas state
 competition is sponsored by the Texas Creative Problem Solving
 Organization; and
 WHEREAS, Students from Cielo Vista took second place for
 elementary schools in the Instinct Messaging category; pulling
 together what they had learned about animal science and theater
 arts, the students costumed themselves as bees and demonstrated how
 the insects communicate with each other; and
 WHEREAS, Led by fifth-grade teacher Liz Rodriguez, the Cielo
 Vista team's members are fourth-grader Alessandra Martinez and
 third-graders Alec Chacon, Avy Ruvalcalba, Alisa Garcia, Miami
 Litton-Palmer, Marcela De La Torre, and Andy Rodriguez; and
 WHEREAS, The students' second-place win in Houston qualifies
 them to compete at the Destination ImagiNation Global Finals in
 Knoxville, Tennessee; they are the first team from Cielo Vista to
 reach the international level; and
 WHEREAS, In winning this notable honor, these remarkable
 young people have demonstrated their intelligence, discipline, and
 creativity, and it is most fitting that they be commended not just
 for their victory, but for their enthusiasm for learning; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the Cielo Vista Elementary School
 team for taking second place in their category at the 2009 Texas
 Destination ImagiNation competition and extend to them sincere best
 wishes for continued success and a bright future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the Cielo Vista team as an expression of high regard by
 the Texas House of Representatives.
