No. 2102 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Laura Louise McClung of Dallas, who passed away on April 11, 2009; and WHEREAS, The daughter of Karl and Lula Bronson White, the former Laura White was initially raised in Lancaster before moving to Dallas during her childhood; she attended Hockaday School and Southern Methodist University and was a lifelong member of the Preston Road Church of Christ; and WHEREAS, Although she knew the sorrow of losing her first husband, John Robert Marshall, who was killed in World War II, she had the good fortune to find love a second time with Dr. Hugh L. McClung; the couple enjoyed a rewarding marriage that extended until Dr. McClung passed away, and they raised a loving family that included their two children, Laura and Hugh; and WHEREAS, Mrs. McClung was an active participant in her community, with memberships in the Dallas Woman's Club, the Dallas Doctors Wives Auxiliary, the Seneca Book Review, the Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, the Dallas Garden Club, and the Garden Study Club; her passion and skill for flower arranging were widely respected, and she won several blue ribbons and two tricolor ribbons for her work; and WHEREAS, Known for the humor, kindness, and wisdom she shared with her loved ones, Laura McClung was devoted to her family and also took great comfort in her spiritual faith; she is deeply missed, but she will forever hold a place in the hearts of those who held her dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Laura Louise McClung and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her children, Laura Bronson McClung and Dr. Hugh Lawson McClung; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Laura McClung.
