| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Laura |

| 6 | 6 | | Louise McClung of Dallas, who passed away on April 11, 2009; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Karl and Lula Bronson White, the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | former Laura White was initially raised in Lancaster before moving |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | to Dallas during her childhood; she attended Hockaday School and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Southern Methodist University and was a lifelong member of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Preston Road Church of Christ; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Although she knew the sorrow of losing her first |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | husband, John Robert Marshall, who was killed in World War II, she |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | had the good fortune to find love a second time with Dr. Hugh L. |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | McClung; the couple enjoyed a rewarding marriage that extended |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | until Dr. McClung passed away, and they raised a loving family that |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | included their two children, Laura and Hugh; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. McClung was an active participant in her |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | community, with memberships in the Dallas Woman's Club, the Dallas |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Doctors Wives Auxiliary, the Seneca Book Review, the Marianne |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Scruggs Garden Club, the Dallas Garden Club, and the Garden Study |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Club; her passion and skill for flower arranging were widely |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | respected, and she won several blue ribbons and two tricolor |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | ribbons for her work; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Known for the humor, kindness, and wisdom she shared |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | with her loved ones, Laura McClung was devoted to her family and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | also took great comfort in her spiritual faith; she is deeply |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | missed, but she will forever hold a place in the hearts of those who |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | held her dear; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Laura Louise McClung |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | children, Laura Bronson McClung and Dr. Hugh Lawson McClung; and to |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | her other relatives and friends; and, be it further |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 36 | 36 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |

| 37 | 37 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Laura |
