55 WHEREAS, Amy Hobbie has been selected as the 2008-2009
66 Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Association of Texas
77 Professional Educators; and
88 WHEREAS, This accolade pays tribute to teachers who use
99 innovative methods in the classroom and demonstrate an exceptional
1010 commitment to their students; a truly deserving recipient, Ms.
1111 Hobbie is a history instructor at the Crowley Learning Center,
1212 where she is respected for her efforts to reach students of all
1313 learning abilities; she employs a variety of original approaches,
1414 including roundtable discussions and model-building; and
1515 WHEREAS, Ms. Hobbie was inspired to become an educator during
1616 her years as a member of the PTA; volunteering in the classrooms of
1717 her twin sons, she realized that she could be of even greater
1818 service to area schoolchildren as a teacher; and
1919 WHEREAS, Amy Hobbie has since contributed to the Crowley
2020 Learning Center with leadership, compassion, and creativity, and
2121 she stands as an inspiring example of how one person's commitment to
2222 the education of young people can make a positive and lasting
2323 difference to the community as a whole; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2525 Legislature hereby congratulate Amy Hobbie on her selection as the
2626 2008-2009 Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Association of Texas
2727 Professional Educators and extend to her sincere best wishes for
2828 continued success with her important work; and, be it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Ms. Hobbie as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3131 House of Representatives.
