| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Amy Hobbie has been selected as the 2008-2009 |

| 6 | 6 | | Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Association of Texas |

| 7 | 7 | | Professional Educators; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This accolade pays tribute to teachers who use |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | innovative methods in the classroom and demonstrate an exceptional |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | commitment to their students; a truly deserving recipient, Ms. |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Hobbie is a history instructor at the Crowley Learning Center, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | where she is respected for her efforts to reach students of all |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | learning abilities; she employs a variety of original approaches, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | including roundtable discussions and model-building; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Hobbie was inspired to become an educator during |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | her years as a member of the PTA; volunteering in the classrooms of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | her twin sons, she realized that she could be of even greater |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | service to area schoolchildren as a teacher; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Amy Hobbie has since contributed to the Crowley |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Learning Center with leadership, compassion, and creativity, and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | she stands as an inspiring example of how one person's commitment to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the education of young people can make a positive and lasting |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | difference to the community as a whole; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Amy Hobbie on her selection as the |

| 26 | 26 | | 2008-2009 Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Association of Texas |
