| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Homer Wasson and Zane Stites are concluding their |

| 6 | 6 | | distinguished service on the Navarro College Board of Trustees in |

| 7 | 7 | | May 2009; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Recognized as the fastest-growing public two-year |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | college in the nation by Community College Week, Navarro College is |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | guided by the mission of putting its students first, and it has |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | prospered under the skilled leadership of trustees like Mr. Wasson |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and Mr. Stites; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, these dedicated administrators |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | have earned the lasting respect and appreciation of their fellow |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | board members and of Navarro College president Dr. Richard Sanchez; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Mr. Stites has been a trustee for 18 years, during which time |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | enrollment has increased from 1,500 to 9,000 students, and he is |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | known for being a good listener and for sharing his valuable insight |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and guidance; Mr. Wasson is also a longtime member of the board, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | having served under three presidents, and his management skills, as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | well as his unique perspective on improving the institution, have |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | been assets to the group; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, With their unwavering commitment to Navarro |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | College, Mr. Wasson and Mr. Stites have helped provide many area |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Texans with high quality educational opportunities, and they may |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | indeed reflect with great pride on the positive impact they have had |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | on the community as a whole; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby honor Homer Wasson and Zane Stites for their |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | outstanding contributions to Navarro College and extend to them |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it |
