 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, On May 15, 2009, Dant Nicole Johnson is graduating
 from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law, and
 she can indeed take pride in this noteworthy accomplishment; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Johnson began her secondary education at the
 University of Toledo in Ohio, where she excelled academically,
 winning recognition on the president's list and dean's list; she
 held an athletic scholarship as a member of the women's volleyball
 team and served as its captain for two years; in addition, she was
 vice president of the undergraduate chapter of Delta Sigma Theta
 Sorority; and
 WHEREAS, After earning her bachelor's degree, Ms. Johnson
 worked as a research assistant and project assistant at law firms in
 Los Angeles and Houston; she went on to enroll in Thurgood Marshall
 School of Law, where she made the dean's list and served as a legal
 writing research assistant, a mentor to first-year students, and a
 student ambassador; her affiliations include the American Bar
 Association, the Government Law Society, the Black Law Students
 Association, the Prestage Woods Women's Legal Society, and the
 International & Immigration Law Society; and
 WHEREAS, This gifted and industrious scholar has held
 internships with the Office of the City Attorney in Houston, with
 the United States District Court for the Southern District of
 Texas, with the Consumer Protection Division of the Office of the
 Attorney General of Texas, and with the firm of Johnson, Spalding,
 Doyle, West, & Trent; moreover, she has trained other students in
 legal research as a student representative for Westlaw since 2007;
 and
 WHEREAS, Giving back to the wider community, Ms. Johnson has
 coached girls in the Houston Attackers Volleyball Club, served as a
 youth mentor and motivational speaker, and volunteered at her local
 food bank; and
 WHEREAS, Through her hard work and commitment to excellence,
 Dant Johnson has set a high standard of achievement while
 inspiring others to reach for their goals; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate Dant Johnson on the auspicious
 occasion of her law school graduation and extend to her sincere best
 wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Johnson as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
