 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, LaDaJa Woodfork was honored for her achievements at
 the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on April 18, 2009;
 and
 WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have
 distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic
 involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith
 Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist
 Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at
 the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund;
 and
 WHEREAS, LaDaJa Woodfork is the daughter of Larry and
 LaTrenda Woodfork; she is a fifth-grade honor roll student with
 perfect attendance at M. W. Dogan Elementary School and
 participates in the Imagine Project, which is part of the National
 Center for Early Academic Greatness Young Scholars Program; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Woodfork is a member of several organizations
 affiliated with the Imagine Project and also devotes time to the
 school cheerleading team and to activities at Power House Church of
 God in Christ; and
 WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her
 community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and
 teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism
 toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate LaDaJa Woodfork on being named a
 2009 honoree at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon
 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all
 of her endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Woodfork as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
