| 6 | 6 | | the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon on April 18, 2009; |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This gathering recognized 23 students who have |

| 9 | 9 | | distinguished themselves through their academic pursuits and civic |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | involvement; the awards pay tribute to the memory of Reginald Keith |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Guillory, a student, musician, and member of Mount Pleasant Baptist |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Church in Houston, whose tragic death in an automobile accident at |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the age of 18 prompted area residents to create a scholarship fund; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, LaDaJa Woodfork is the daughter of Larry and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | LaTrenda Woodfork; she is a fifth-grade honor roll student with |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | perfect attendance at M. W. Dogan Elementary School and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | participates in the Imagine Project, which is part of the National |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Center for Early Academic Greatness Young Scholars Program; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Woodfork is a member of several organizations |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | affiliated with the Imagine Project and also devotes time to the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | school cheerleading team and to activities at Power House Church of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | God in Christ; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This fine young Texan is an exemplary member of her |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | community and a source of tremendous pride to her family and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | teachers, and she may indeed look with anticipation and optimism |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | toward the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate LaDaJa Woodfork on being named a |

| 31 | 31 | | 2009 honoree at the Reginald Keith Guillory Scholarship Luncheon |
