 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, French exchange student Nicolas Duvernois is
 touring Austin on May 21, 2009, and his visit to the State Capitol
 helps to reinforce the long-standing bonds of friendship between
 his nation and the State of Texas; and
 WHEREAS, Just as young Texans benefit by spending time
 abroad, foreign students gain valuable insights into the history
 and culture of the Lone Star State by enjoying the hospitality of
 their host families and their Texan classmates; and
 WHEREAS, The bridges of understanding that are built during
 these exchanges play a vital role in helping the next generation of
 leaders explore new ideas and learn about another culture; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Monbalen, Aquitaine, France, Mr.
 Duvernois is the son of a researcher and engineer for the French
 military, and he is descended from a line of nobility that dates
 back before the French Revolution; and
 WHEREAS, In Texas, Mr. Duvernois has resided with the Parsi
 family of Caldwell, where he has played baseball and run track for
 Caldwell High School and has been active in the Young Life
 organization; and
 WHEREAS, The visit to Austin of Mr. Duvernois provides a fine
 opportunity to celebrate the intellectual curiosity and spirit of
 adventure of all exchange students, and it is most fitting that he
 should be extended the status of honorary Texan; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize Nicolas Duvernois as an honorary Texan
 and extend to him sincere best wishes for a meaningful and memorable
 visit to Austin; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Mr. Duvernois as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
