No. 2135 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Marcus Edward Puckett of Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 468 in Friendswood has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding criteria, Mr. Puckett earned the requisite 21 merit badges and successfully completed an Eagle Scout project of benefit to his community; he organized and led an effort to paint several rooms and the exterior rails of his high school; and WHEREAS, The son of Marshall and Linda Puckett, this fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability throughout his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration of his fellow scouts as he worked toward the highest rank that scouting offers; he has been an assistant patrol leader, quartermaster, and chaplain; and WHEREAS, Mr. Puckett is a senior at Pasadena High School, where he is a member of the football, swimming, and bowling teams; he is active with the student council, the jazz band, and the speech and debate team, and he represented the school at Texas Boys State in 2008; he has been recognized with the Pasadena High School Vanguard Award, and he is a National Hispanic Recognized Scholar; he holds a first degree black belt in the Korean martial art of Kuk Sool Won; and WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Puckett's dedication to excellence and his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Marcus Edward Puckett on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Puckett as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
