| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Marcus Edward Puckett of Boy Scouts of America Troop |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | No. 468 in Friendswood has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | this accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | criteria, Mr. Puckett earned the requisite 21 merit badges and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | successfully completed an Eagle Scout project of benefit to his |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | community; he organized and led an effort to paint several rooms and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the exterior rails of his high school; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The son of Marshall and Linda Puckett, this fine |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | throughout his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of his fellow scouts as he worked toward the highest rank that |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | scouting offers; he has been an assistant patrol leader, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | quartermaster, and chaplain; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Puckett is a senior at Pasadena High School, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | where he is a member of the football, swimming, and bowling teams; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | he is active with the student council, the jazz band, and the speech |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and debate team, and he represented the school at Texas Boys State |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | in 2008; he has been recognized with the Pasadena High School |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Vanguard Award, and he is a National Hispanic Recognized Scholar; |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | he holds a first degree black belt in the Korean martial art of Kuk |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Sool Won; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Puckett's dedication to excellence and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Marcus Edward Puckett on achieving |

| 35 | 35 | | the rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
