 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Sergeant Benjamin Alexander Salinas, Sr., of Alice
 has rendered valiant service in Afghanistan as a member of the
 United States Army; and
 WHEREAS, Sergeant Salinas was based at Fort Bragg, North
 Carolina, where he was assigned to the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne
 Division, before deploying for 15 months to Afghanistan in February
 2007; he served as a 50-caliber gunner and team leader with Delta
 Company 2/508 and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Good
 Conduct Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement
 Medal, and the NATO International Security Assistance Force Medal,
 among others; and
 WHEREAS, A 2002 graduate of Alice High School, Sergeant
 Salinas is the devoted husband of Jayla Salinas, with whom he has a
 son, Benjamin Alexander Salinas, Jr.; moreover, he enjoys the love
 and support of his parents, Rolando and Nora Salinas, his sister,
 Pamela Mata, and his parents-in-law, Velinda Gonzalez and Omar
 Garcia; and
 WHEREAS, In his steadfast dedication to duty, Sergeant
 Benjamin Salinas embodies the highest ideals of the United States
 armed forces, and his admirable contributions to this nation's
 defense have earned him the respect and appreciation of his fellow
 citizens; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Sergeant Benjamin Alexander Salinas, Sr.,
 for his courageous service to his country and extend to him sincere
 best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Sergeant Salinas as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
