| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Benjamin Alexander Salinas, Sr., of Alice |

| 6 | 6 | | has rendered valiant service in Afghanistan as a member of the |

| 7 | 7 | | United States Army; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Salinas was based at Fort Bragg, North |

| 9 | 9 | | Carolina, where he was assigned to the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Division, before deploying for 15 months to Afghanistan in February |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | 2007; he served as a 50-caliber gunner and team leader with Delta |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Company 2/508 and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Good |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Conduct Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Medal, and the NATO International Security Assistance Force Medal, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | among others; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A 2002 graduate of Alice High School, Sergeant |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Salinas is the devoted husband of Jayla Salinas, with whom he has a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | son, Benjamin Alexander Salinas, Jr.; moreover, he enjoys the love |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and support of his parents, Rolando and Nora Salinas, his sister, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Pamela Mata, and his parents-in-law, Velinda Gonzalez and Omar |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Garcia; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In his steadfast dedication to duty, Sergeant |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Benjamin Salinas embodies the highest ideals of the United States |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | armed forces, and his admirable contributions to this nation's |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | defense have earned him the respect and appreciation of his fellow |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | citizens; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor Sergeant Benjamin Alexander Salinas, Sr., |
