55 WHEREAS, Residents from the Cedar Creek Lake area of
66 Henderson County are gathering in Austin on February 3, 2009, to
77 celebrate Cedar Creek Lake Area Day at the Capitol; and
88 WHEREAS, More than 60,000 Texans reside near Cedar Creek
99 Lake, which encompasses 38,000 acres and features 328 miles of
1010 picturesque shoreline; locals and tourists alike take advantage of
1111 the state's largest residential lake by engaging in a wide range of
1212 outdoor activities, including boating, fishing, swimming, camping,
1313 and golf; and
1414 WHEREAS, With a healthy blend of residential and business
1515 interests, the region has much to offer citizens of growing
1616 communities such as Kemp, Gun Barrel City, Eustace, Mabank, Seven
1717 Points, and Tool; and
1818 WHEREAS, Area towns, while proud of their individual
1919 identities, also share the values and ideals of a caring,
2020 close-knit community; and
2121 WHEREAS, Joining us in the chamber today are participants in
2222 Leadership Cedar Creek Lake, a program working to foster a more
2323 informed and involved citizenry and to develop new leaders in
2424 Henderson County; and
2525 WHEREAS, Cedar Creek Lake is one of our state's true
2626 treasures, and residents justifiably take great pride in the beauty
2727 and character of the area; now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
2929 Legislature hereby recognize February 3, 2009, as Cedar Creek Lake
3030 Area Day at the State Capitol and extend to the delegation here
3131 today sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable visit.
