| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, R. David Guerrero of Jim Wells County has been named |

| 6 | 6 | | the 2009 District Clerk of the Year for Region 8 by the County and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | District Clerks Association of Texas; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Region 8 of the County and District Clerks |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Association represents 35 counties in South Texas; the region's |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | annual award for district clerk is presented on the basis of a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | nominee's length of service, job performance, and involvement with |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the association; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A native of Alice, Mr. Guerrero has been the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | district clerk of Jim Wells County since 1999; he has served on a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | number of committees for the association, including the sales, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | silent auction, legislative, and balloting committees, and he has |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | been affiliated with the Texas District Court Alliance; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This respected professional is also engaged in his |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | community as a member of the boards of the Alice Independent School |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | District, the Alice Counseling Center, the Community Action |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Corporation of South Texas, and the Alice Chamber of Commerce; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | moreover, he has served on the Child Welfare Board and worked with |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, the Miss Texas USA |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Pageant, and the Coastal Bend Red Cross, among other organizations; |

| 25 | 25 | | and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, An active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mr. |

| 27 | 27 | | Guerrero has served as a religious education coordinator and as a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | member of the finance council; and |

| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Highly respected by his peers, David Guerrero has |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | long played a vital role in his professional community, and he may |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | indeed take pride in this well-deserved recognition; now, |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
