| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Monica "Desiree" Castro has provided indispensable |

| 6 | 6 | | support to the office of Representative Solomon Ortiz, Jr.; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Desiree Castro joined Representative Ortiz's staff |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | as an intern in the district office in 2007, and her dedication |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | earned her the position of constituent liaison, in which she ably |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | handled issues relating to insurance, CPS, and the Nueces County |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Jail; she was also charged with researching topics for future |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | legislation and attending events to address past legislation and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | community affairs; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Moving to Austin for her current position as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | legislative aide in 2009, Ms. Castro has managed her many daily |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | responsibilities in an exceptional manner, demonstrating |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | impeccable judgment and resourcefulness in all of her efforts; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Frank and Olga Castro, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Ms. Castro is a native of Corpus Christi; she earned her bachelor's |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | degree in psychology from Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | where she is now pursuing a master's degree in public |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | administration; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Desiree Castro has performed her duties in the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | office of Representative Ortiz with skill and dedication, and her |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | fine work has been of great benefit to the constituents of House |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | District 33 and people throughout the state; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor Monica "Desiree" Castro for her |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | outstanding service in the office of Representative Solomon Ortiz, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Jr., and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in |

| 31 | 31 | | all of her endeavors; and, be it further |
